PHOENIX

The Phoenix can be found in Egyptian mythology, Celtic, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic stories. In Slavic culture, it appears as Raróg.

It is a symbol of the Sun and perhaps its messenger. It brings Light where it is needed. It is also a well-known symbol of rebirth. I painted it in the snow, at the end of winter, from the darkness of which it emerged within me.

Pre-spring is that symbolic time just before the awakening of all nature. I am still learning to like it. I feel very lonely without the green of the forest during that time.
