Informacja o artyście:

I’ve been painting since I was a child, when I grew up in my home, usually sitting in the painting studio and watching my Father paint, who, like me, watched my grandfather paint. This family tradition is very important to me and has a significant influence on the images I create. Despite the fact that I have managed to find my own style, I often draw on the painting tradition of both my father and grandfather. I grew up in Kazimierz Dolny, a picturesque town, where a landscape containing a river, rugged terrain, magical light and unique architecture became a pretext for me to take my first steps in landscape painting. Although I later moved away from it, trying different directions, from abstraction to representational paintings and searching for my own style, light, landscape form, space and other motifs, sometimes seemingly invisibly woven into the painting, are a constant in my work.

After graduating from the High School of Fine Arts, where I defended my diploma in the woodcarving and woodcarving studio, I began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the graphic design department. I defended my diploma with honors in the illustration studio. Two annexes, in painting and drawing, were also an important part of the diploma. Thanks to studying graphic design, I learned the skill of working on printmaking, but also learned the principles of design when working on posters, lettering, typography and illustration; but painting has always been the main content of my creative pursuits. During my studies at the Academy, I devoted myself mainly to abstract painting, and learned about the formal possibilities that can be achieved through different methods of laying down paint, using different painting tools and knowing how to use them. After college, I began to look more and more closely at my imagery, which became a pretext for new works and the beginning of finding my own original creative path.

Although I drew on borrowings from various directions and moments in art, mainly from medieval or surrealist art, I managed, based on my own visions, to create an individual image of the painting world. I have always tried to make the image multi-layered. What it depicted was important, but also the method and technique by which it was created; the symbolic, ambiguous motifs and the spiritual value, which for me is a value inseparable from art. It is all these planes that create the image for me. Its message is multi-layered, it may refer to social situations, but underneath, deeper, it always touches the spiritual realm as well.

Throughout my life, I have always tried to expand and learn about different opportunities and tools. Therefore, I created animations, illustration, posters, as well as art classes for children, where the main idea was to show that painting, drawing, art are the result of the natural need of every human being. Leaving marks with brush, paint, crayons, markers, sprays and a myriad of other tools always has an impact on our development. “Zabawa” painting should be geared toward individualism, which means maintaining independence from outside opinions, suggestions and insights. The work should not have an imposed theme, it should bring out natural expression and spontaneity. Painting is not just a matter of talent, but is a natural need for self-expression. We don’t have to ask questions such as what does the picture represent, but we should not limit our creativity by any boundaries and refrain from comments or suggestions.
