MONOTYPE COLLAGE DEEP INSIGHT NO2

I called this mini-series “Deep Insight” - meaning “insight into oneself through the eyes of others.” Monotype collage is one of my favorite techniques, albeit one that requires a lot of preparation. First, I source, invent, obtain, buy, collect a wide variety of papers - each one unique in its own way. Then I prepare appliques - ink prints on these unique papers. Already in themselves they are usually captivating, but their purpose requires further work - that is, building a space. I usually start with a sketch and layout, then select prints, from which I cut out fragments that are part of the resulting collage. Contrary to appearances, no element is accidental, sometimes it takes several days and approaches to get each scrap in its place. After such preparations, the final stage remains - gluing with water-based paper to the substrate.... All of this work requires a lot of patience, buy into the process and precision.
